HOW TO MAKE AN EASY BOHO FALL WREATH

You may have seen on my Insta that we recently became home owners! We were so grateful we were are in a position where we were able to buy a home, and excited about all the projects that come with a house!

BUT WOW HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED in the last few weeks. Lots of new home repairs suddenly came up. Hello standing water in the basement and totally new roof…

Amongst the chaos I just needed to have one thing that made the house feel semi put together.

Fast forward a few days and there I was standing in an overly crowded Trader Joes in my leggings and work out tank, just like the 9,8079 people in there, and I perused the floral section per usual.

Didn’t have any big revelations here, just snatched up some fall wheat filler and pretty stems and left satisfied after grabbing my butternut squash mac and cheese.

OK, I’ll get to the point.

HOW TO MAKE A BOHO FALL WREATH

SUPPLIES:

-Dried florals
-Woven fans or something else that shows off your personality (mine were thrifted but you can find them on Etsy.)
-Embroidery hoop (thrifted)
-Glue gun and glue
-String or floral wire
– Hairspray

HOW TO MAKE YOUR WREATH

1. Gather your supplies.
2. Lay out your florals to decide on your design.
3. Bundle your florals with string or floral wire.
4. Attach your bundles with floral wire or hot glue.
5. Adjust until you’re happy!
6. Take your pretty little wreath outside and spray it down with hairspray. This will keep it in place and help it last longer.
7. Hang on your door with a command hook and enjoy!
Find my spring update to this hoop wreath here!
I hope this shows how easy and casual making a wreath can be! Just get creative and add some of your own personality.

23 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR HOME COZIER

iced coffee and fresh flowers

You all know my blog is about making your spaces cozy in a way that works for you. No matter your circumstances, there are always small things you can do to improve your space in a way that makes you feel good.

Here are 23 affordable and attainable ways to add a touch of cozy to your home.

  1. Candles. Pick out a signature scent for your home. It’s so easy to go nose blind in your own house! You’ll love having a fresh aroma in the air when you walk in. I like to even have a different scent for every season. Candles make the best gifts, too 😉
  2. Candle snuffer. This will prevent smoke when you wan to extinguish a candle. Plus, these are cute enough to store on your coffee table or bookshelf and act as a piece of decor.
  3. Put a fluffy rug or soft slippers next to your bed so its the first thing you feet feel in the morning.
  4. Coffee table books. These are great for styling your coffee tables and giving your decor more levels instead of placing your candles, vases and accessories all directly on the table.
  5. Frame art your children or you make. You made it for a reason, you should hang it and enjoy it! You can always replace them when you make something new!
  6. Throws. Add throws to your couches or chairs for guests to cozy up on. If you’re like me and have nice decorative throws that you refuse to let your spouse use, store these on a wall hook in your room or in a pretty basket.
  7. Throw pillows. Change these out seasonally and buy inserts so you can just change the pillow covers. This is much more cost effective and allows you to wash the covers if needed.
  8. Make your bed. There’s nothing better than coming home after a long day and hopping into crisp, clean bedding.
  9. Decorate your bar cart. This will add a festive touch to your home.
  10. Stock your pantry with the basics in case the baking bug hits you. This way you don’t have to schlep yourself to Target at 10 p.m. in your sweats and slippers. (GUILTY of this)
  11. Have three amazing dinner recipes you know you’re awesome at making every time without fail.
  12. Decorate for each holiday you love. You can switch out some of your smaller pieces and keep your normal staples to get that festive feel without spending your whole paycheck.
  13. Add kits to your guest room and bathroom when you have people over or friends staying with you. This will make everyone feel so welcomed into your home.
  14. Have cohesive towel sets. You can find more affordable and still plush towels to create your set.
  15. Use a shampoo and conditioner or a body wash you love. I tend to spend a bit more on my body wash in the cooler months to give extra hydration to parched skin. It’s nice to treat your body well, it’s the only one you’ve got!
  16. Add a wreath or florals to your front door. It’s always nice to come home to this special touch.
  17. Or, add a charming door knocker. We had one of these on he house I grew up in and I always miss it.
  18. Have music or a fireplace on instead of the TV when guests are over. This encourages conversation instead of having everyone staring at a screen.
  19. Invest in a full length mirror. No more awkwardly popping your leg up to see if your shoes match your outfit.
  20. Have both tea and coffee handy in the pantry. It’s nice to have your guests preference when they are over. If you know your bestie likes a specific tea, grab some on your next trip to the grocery store.
  21. Have stamps on hand and write letters often. You’d be surprised how good it feels.
  22. Organize your pantry so you can always see what you have on hand. If you use baskets and containers, use clear ones so you can easily see the goods.
  23.  Make something for your home. It’ll be exactly what you want and show some of your own character in your space.

HOW TO MAKE A PINEAPPLE CUP

Easy pineapple cocktail cup

Pineapple cups are so cute and can really add a special touch to a summer gathering with friends. They are so easy to make if you have the right tool.

This pineapple corer is key. All you do is remove the top of the pineapple, insert the corer right over the core, and twist. As you twist, the corer creates a spiral of pineapple.

You just lift the corer out and you’re left with yummy fruit and none of the mess of cutting around the core by hand.

You can then cut the core out, or, even easier, use kitchen shears.

You can make these cups even more festive with cocktail umbrellas and fun straws. You can enjoy a classic pina colada by the pool, or make your own recipe!

I most recently made a Prosecco punch that used some of the fresh pineapple in the recipe. Instead of buying pineapple juice, I popped four rings in the blender to make my own.

RECIPE

This recipe is just about right for filling two medium pineapple cups.

1 cup Prosecco
1/4th cup lime juice
1/3 cup orange juice
Four rings of your fresh pineapple
2 TBS  Aperol
5-7 ice cubes

Blend everything together until the ice and pineapple chunks are gone.

HOW TO MAKE REALISTIC PAPER LEAVES

tropical paper leaves

These DIY paper leaves are super easy and would be adorable when incorporated into a balloon arch or table centerpiece for a chic brunch. I was inspired by the foliage at our wedding venue to make these.

SUPPLIES

  • card stock or poster board
  • sharp scissors
  • bone folder

supplies for the paper leaf project

DIRECTIONS

  1. Decide in the size of leaves you want and the type you want to
create. You will need to use either a sheet of card stock for smaller,
of poster board for larger leaves. I used a mix of the two. A variety of sizes
mixed together will give you a pretty layered result.
  2. Draw you leaves and cut them out. It’s ok to mess up here. The
jagged and wavy edges give you leaves a textured look that’ll look
better in the end. I looked up images of tropical leaves and vines and
then free-handed my sketches form there. I varied each leaf from one
    another.
  3. Once your leaves are cut out, you will use your bone folder to give
them some texture. This will give them more structure and mimic their
natural shape. Look at your picture of your leaf and decide the shapes
you want to imprint into the leaf. I made a vein/stem going down the
middle, and then strokes going from the middle stem to the outer ends of
    the leaf.
  4. I did the middle stem on the front side of the leaf since it has a
naturally concave shape that folded in. I turned the leaf over and
imprinted the smaller veins on the back side. This part is all really up
to you and how you want to get creative.
  5. Once you’ve added in your texture, you’re good to go!
