DIY BOHO DRIED FLOWER HAT- EASY SEASONAL WARDROBE UPGRADE

Flowers are the classic accessory. From the traditional bouquet or corsage, to flower crowns and flowers in your hair, they’re not going away any time soon. Lately, I’ve seen nature’s perfect accessory adorning boho wide-brim hats galore. I am HERE FOR IT.

I picture wearing these hats for wedding festivities like bachelorette parties and bridal showers. You’ll catch me donning mine with the baby bump this spring.

This DIY is short, sweet, and is a great outlet for creativity. You can customize your hat for a minimalist or maximalist look. DIY below!

SUPPLIES

Hat
Floral Wire
Assorted dried and silk flowers
Wire snippers
Glue gun

I bought all my supplies here.

DIY Boho Floral Hat

STEPS

  1. Use the floral wire to create a circular “wreath” shape around your hat. Then, wrap it several times, twisting the ends around for extra stability. I made mine a smidge looser so it can be removed without damaging the hat.
  2. You’ll start with your base flowers. Wrap a single layer around the hat and securing them with small pieces of floral wire to the “wreath” you created. No need for perfection. It’s easy to go back and layer in where needed.
  3. Next, add in other flowers on top of your base layer. I prefer to mix different textures. You can stick with one pop of color of go with a more vibrant color pallet. I used the floral wire to attach most of these, then hot glue to attach the smaller detail flowers. If you want to be able to remove your flower wreath form your hat, make sure you don’t get glue on your hat.

BRIDAL SHOES FOR THE BOHO BRIDE

boho beaded wedding shoes

I have always LOVED shoes. Maybe that’s why my last two posts have been exclusively about shoes…Whoops.
Finding my wedding shoes is something I took my time with. I found my dress first, but then the shoes came months later. I wanted to add some texture to my outfit, but wasn’t dead set on white shoes. My dress was more of a champagne color, so I had some wiggle room.

I felt very lucky to have found these beaded shoes. They were the very last ones in stock and fit like a glove. Of course, I danced a few laps around the house just to make sure they were comfy enough.

Here are some of my favorite wedding shoes! I hope you enjoy! What do you look for in a wedding shoe?

AFTER ENGAGEMENT: REGISTRY 101

Part of the engagement process is making a registry. I personally didn’t have the time or desire to walk through the mall and different stores to browse through racks of dinnerware and cutlery. SO, here is what worked for us.

OUR WEDDING SITE

This is where our Minted site came in handy. We made our registries online through Anthropologie and Target, and then we were able to add our registry links right on our custom Minted website.

TIP: Only register to online stores if you have a brick and mortar location near where you live. This made returns for glassware that broke in transit much easier. Better safe than sorry.

Our site was also where we directed our guests to RSVP to the wedding weekend. This made access to event, travel and registry info easy.

REGISTRY

Only register for items you will be excited to use and can see yourself having in your house long term. Don’t listen to what other people say you just “HAVE TO HAVE” on your registry. This is about YOU and your significant other. Do what works for you both.

We stuck to items at price points that we would pay ourselves for items on our registry.

Something fun that James and I did was we both picked out a few items each we really liked, and by the time we did that, the registry was all set up.

OTHER REGISTRY OPTIONS

Since material objects don’t mean everything, here are some other options you could add to your registry:

  • Funds for experiences like your honeymoon or things you’ll do on your honeymoon (dinner, couples spa day, etc.)
  • Ask your guests to make donations to your favorite charities instead of gifts

Do you have any registry tips and tricks? Please enlighten us all over on my latest Instagram post!
If you’re planning your wedding, what are some questions you have? I love discussing wedding ideas!

THE CARIBBEAN COURT BOUTIQUE HOTEL- VERO BEACH, FL

After our wedding James and I were lucky enough to stay at one of Vero Beach’s hidden gems. The Caribbean Court Boutique Hotel has 18 charming guest rooms that are finished with details like hand-painted tile and original art. The uniqueness of each room lends to the coziness of the property.

The hotel truly is tucked into it’s own little Vero paradise with the property covered in tropical greenery and foliage. There is walking access to the beach and a pool on the property. I grew up in Vero Beach and still enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It was a refreshing take on the beach culture of the town. I could relax and enjoy myself while still accessing all of my favorite local cafes and eateries.

There were little lounge areas tucked into every nook of this property. You can’t see them unless you really take the time to walk through every archway and green canopy.

I was basically gushing over the beautiful pieces in our room to James the entire time we stayed. We stayed in two different rooms, each unique. My favorite details had to be the colorful tiles. I now need these somewhere in our future house. It’s not a style I would normally go for, but it was just so fitting for the mood.

The Havana Nights Piano Bar is located upstairs of the restaurant and provides a relaxing retro vibe for a chill cocktail hour. We enjoyed the high backed booths that lent a more romantic feel to the experience. After a long day on the beach with family and friends, this was a nice way to unwind for the night. There was live music provided by local musicians.

The restaurant where we ate every breakfast, Maison Martinique, served up the freshest food with more vintage Florida vibes. Each morning we enjoyed the omelette of the day and a fresh side of fruit.

I dined out by the pool to soak up some of the Florida sunshine while we could. Breakfast was served between 8 and 10 a.m. and I promise you will not find a better complimentary breakfast anywhere in town.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, even when we needed to get a room key at 2:00 a.m. after our reception. (Evidence below) It felt like we were best fiends with the staff by the end of our three-night stay.

I am already ready to return to the Caribbean Court, because even though 45 degrees is “warm” for Michigan, it’s just not cutting it. I highly recommend this boutique hotel for a quick getaway with your S.O. I might even bring Archie next time since the property is pet friendly. (Big bonus points)

If you have any questions about this hotel or just want to hear me gush more about the greenery and decor, please reach out! You can find me here or on here.
